The brief was short and simple; choose a selection of songs and celebrate the lyrics. I decided upon an information graphics approach with a double sided poster concentrating on technology, repetition and life. Each circular graph represents the whole song length along with a selection of ‘technical’ related lyrics, in alphabetical order. The coloured gaps between each inner circular line represent 10 seconds of the entire song. The highlighted sections indicate a 10 second period where each word is said and the exact time is indicated below each graph.
Chosen song = Technologic by Daft Punk.
The reverse side (see below) uses the same concept of time with a tree graph, however, focusing on the ‘life’ related words within the song. The time each word is said is indicated by a vertical line on the X axis, with the ‘life’ words on the Y axis. The colour system is determined by my personal feelings towards each word regarding positivity and negativity.
Chosen song = Carpe Diem Baby by Metallica.
